Uncle Dave drove us to the ferry (not cheating because we’d already
biked that road the day before) and we made our way back to the mainland to
hook up with my cousins Alex and Haley at their swank apartment on the
waterfront. Here we enjoyed another breakfast with Ryan and Kathleen, who
happened to be passing through, and another Brennan cousin, Hannah – Ryan’s
sister (I’ll post a Brennan family tree in the next blog to straighten everyone
out on the subtleties). After breakfast, we provided moral support to Alex as
she secured her patio against invading arachnids with her father’s special
‘Spider-Be-Gone’ mixture (water and potato pesticide).
In the afternoon, we did some relaxing, and also some grocery shopping.
Frosh week at Queen’s was in full force, and the streets were populated with
oddly-dressed youngsters in face paint and wigs. We did our best to avoid the
crowds.
The evening was a low-key affair, involving homemade pizzas, a Sara Lee
cake (frosted by yours truly), and some joyous reminiscing of Brennan times
gone by.
