Day 45 - Sault Ste. Marie, MI to Sault Ste. Marie, ON (T.D.: 10.24km; S.T.: about half an hour)

We did our best to get our money’s worth at the Soo Locks Lodge continental breakfast, and then made our way across the bridge to the Canadian border at Sault Ste. Marie. No problems getting back into the country, and we found our way easily to the home of our hosts for the day – Kees, Gail, Jess, and Tyler – who treated us wonderfully. It was great to be back in Canada among friends (new friends, admittedly), and we had such a lovely day, eating, chatting, and wandering around the town with these fine folks. We’ve been extremely lucky to know, and get to know, so many great people as we make our way across this big old country. We’re looking forward to the day when we are able to return the favor somehow.

Gail sent us away with half a loaf of the best chocolate zucchini bread we'd ever had. There was none left by lunch.

Stats:

Hospitality points earned by the van Frankenhuyzen family: A million. We love them.
